SLAB FOX

DIFFICULTY RATING

A note before you begin:

The fox is not made by the method that Anna used but is an interpretation of her technique. The surface decoration is very di. erent and applied after construction, which is not the way Anna worked – all her surfaces were completed before she constructed the animals. Working in this sectional way can easily be adapted to other animal forms, which we will show in future issues.

You will need:

Paper clay – earthenware or stoneware

Rolling pin, roller guides (no thicker than 5mm), plastic sheet

A short length of 3-4mm dowelling

Underglaze colours – in orange/red/brown, yellow, white and black

Fan-type brush for applying colours

Transparent glaze

Begin by drawing out the parts for your templates
