Reborn Again in the Abacos

CARL ALLEN WAS twelve years old when he knew he would one day call the Bahamas home. Memories of his many trips to the renowned Walkers Cay with his father and stepfather fostered a love affair with the islands well into adulthood. Allen is the type of fishing addict who will spend eight or nine hours fishing bluewater for marlin, wahoo, tuna, and dorado, then return to shore and wade the flats until dark for bonefish and permit. “When people say they don’t fish or hunt,” Allen says. “I ask them what they do for memories.”

As Allen’s fondness for world-class, which began running on ESPN in 1992.
