On the Sunday morning of 16 October 2016, Maria Lutz called her mum and they chatted from different corners of the globe.

Maria’s mum was in Bogota, Columbia, while Maria was in Sydney, Australia, where she lived with her family.

Maria, 43, had grown up in Bogota and missed her family, but loved her life in the leafy suburb of Davidson.
