THE HAUNTING: Beamish Hall has a lively history dating all the way back to 1268. Over the centuries, it’s been the home of many wealthy families in the area including the Percys and the Shaftos – the latter being immortalised in the nursery rhyme ‘Bobby Shafto Went To Sea’.
There are reports of ghostly children in the corridors and the sound of disembodied hooves outside the old stables, but the most famous spook is the Grey Lady.
