‘We appreciate things we took for granted’
What makes you happy? Being a novelist, a ‘happy ending’ is when I conclude my final chapter, drop my pen and gasp, ‘Thank God that’s over.’ Before coronavirus, ‘happiness’ was nothing more than a peculiar feeling that came over me when I was too busy to be glum. Hell, if you were happy every day of your life you’d be a brekky telly weather presenter, I reasoned.
