Manu Saluja

Amid the clamour and commotion of 400 volunteers cooking in the communal kitchen at Sikhism’s holiest shrine, the Golden Temple in Punjab, India, Manu Saluja was struck by the serenity of one particular individual. “There was this elderly man doing a very simple act of cutting onions,” says the New York-based artist. “He was just very quiet and peaceful, it stopped me in my tracks.”
