Teresa Lawler

Having worked as a set designer for both BBC TV dramas and an Australian theatre company, Teresa Lawler has developed a keen understanding about staging and atmosphere. “Lighting can bring a set to life that would otherwise appear flat and uninteresting,” she explains. “The mood of the scene changes entirely depending on what and how it is lit. I approach my painting in a similar way, creating drama in a still image through the use of deep contrast and carefully controlled use of lighting and colour.”
