Painting Outdoors
Painting Country and deriving inspiration from it is a rewarding, artistic experience which can be full of joy, a healing experience, and adventure.
Painting is a way of creating a meditative space. It is mindfulness at its best and allows us to escape out of our usual world.
Painting helps us to centre ourselves, and we are taken into a realm that is both calm and focussed.
When we paint Country we contemplate its beauty; we have an in-depth experience that takes us into our inner world. This stimulates our emotions, opening fresh ways of thinking, going about our life, and simply being.
Let’s go on a journey together and…
Our response to Country can happen at a multitude of levels.

We visit, are inspired, and paint in the Springbrook National Park which is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area.

I was introduced to the value of painting outdoors many years ago when a friend, Mike Parr, a distinguished Australian performance artist and print maker said to me ─ go out and paint in the landscape. It will strengthen your powers of observation, you will see the subtleties of colour, you will benefit from painting in the landscape.
Painting away from the home in the open air is called plein air painting. It will:
