Brook’s dozen: St-Julien at its best

1 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2CC, 2016 97

£116.67 (ib)-£201.67 Averys, Bushby Fine Wines, Christopher Keiller, Cult Wine, Grand Vin, Millésima, Montrachet, Nickolls & Perks

Bruno Borie and technical director Emmanuel Bonneau crafted this exquisite wine together in 2016. The nose is ripe but still stern, with oaky blackcurrant and blackberry. Very concentrated, but also velvety and succulent, it shows admirable tension, muscle and depth. Very youthful and chewy, but not extracted – and it retains that quintessential St-Julien finesse. Drink 2025-2050 Alcohol 13.6%

2 Château Léoville Las Cases, 2CC 2015 96

£123.33 (ib)-£196.67 Cadman, Cult Wine, Davy’s, Farr Vintners, Goedhuis & Co, Millésima, Montrachet, My Wine
