Pumpkins certainly have presence. Over the course of the summer, plants will grow from modest seedlings to great galumphing giants - a billowing eruption of foliage dominating their corner of the plot.
They may not be the most space-efficient of vegetables, but pumpkins are undoubtedly great fun to grow and a pretty robust and reliable crop at that. Aside from regular watering they demand very little attention over the summer months.
