The book is sold as a basic guide to gardening but it is essentially a list of plants the author likes or enjoys growing. Some of the tips are useful. However, I expected a few pages on where to plant your garden, sun, soil and watering. All things that new gardeners need help with but often overlook in the excitement of selecting what to grow.

It appears that the author is passionate about the plants they present.

Introduction to Gardening

Many homeowners and apartment dwellers alike like to grow a few fresh vegetables during the warmer days of spring and summer. Fresh vegetables, organically grown without chemical fertilizers and pesticides, just taste better.

It does not require lots of space to grow a few of your favorite vegetables for consumption by your friends and family. There are many vegetables that can even be grown in containers placed on a patio or sunny windowsill.

Gardening is fun for adults and children alike. The exercise, fresh air and sunshine are all beneficial to healthier living, not to mention the benefits of eating nutritious food that you grew yourself.
