Maintaining regular exercise in lockdown will help, reports that infections are more likely to be a result of poor sleep, inadequate diet, stress and bugs picked up at race meetings, than the exercise itself. ‘Provided it is carried out away from others, then regular, daily exercise will help better maintain the way the immune system works, not suppress it,’ say the researchers. Aim to complete moderate-intensity exercise (running, cycling or walking) for 150 minutes a week.
