Meet the BAKING bosses

‘Baking helped me find myself’

LAMEEZ ABRAHAMS, 40, lives with her husband Adnaan, 47, and their three kids in Rondebosch. She runs a bakery from her kitchen called Justt Baked, and specialises in cakes and desserts.

✢ I was a stay-at-home mom for many years while Adnaan supported our family, but as the kids grew older, I started feeling unfulfilled. I wanted my own career and, although my background is in fashion retail, my real passion is baking. An exceptional sweet treat can really make someone’s day, and I picked up baking as a hobby precisely because it made my family smile. Over the years I’d made themed birthday cakes for the kids, whipping up pink icing for Hello Kitty cupcakes or experimenting with stacked layers for a robot cake. In October 2015 I decided to set up an Instagram account to share my creations with friends online. I posted pictures of playful bakes like purple velvet cake, as well as new recipes
