Meet the BAKING bosses

‘Being based in the Highlands is a huge business opportunity’

JENI HARDIE, 48, lives in Muir of Ord near Inverness with husband and business partner Douglas, and their son Felix. Three years ago she started the Bad Girl Bakery in her kitchen, and now employs a team of 20.

THE IDEA

I’d been working in arts marketing for around 20 years, and as time went on it became more stressful and less joyful. In 2012, after I had been off work with illness, I spotted a job for a baker. I longed to do something immediate, creative and that would make me happy, and so despite having no qualifications other than a love of home baking, I applied. Luckily, they took a chance and gave me the job.
