Q&A
DILUTED NITROGEN?
Q Hi, Thank you for a great magazine which I have been reading for many While reading the article in Issue 595 (Feb 06), the review on the Jayco Journey 17.53.3 Outback, I noticed a couple of things:
1. On page 111, in the paragraph titled THE LOOK, the last sentence says if you “drove sensibly and lowered the tyre pressures over uneven surfaces” you could explore country travel.
2. In the next paragraph titled THE BUILD, it states that the All Terrain Tyres have Green Caps, to indicate they are filled with Nitrogen to help maintain constant tyre temperature in extreme conditions.
Assuming you lower the tyres pressures to travel over a dirt road into a National Park, how do you reinflate the Nitrogen filled tyres after you re-join the Black Top? Not many people would be carrying spare pressurised gas bottles filled with Nitrogen to reinflate the tyres.
Do you reinflate the tyres with normal air? How does this impact on the ability of the now diluted Nitrogen to maintain constant tyre temperature?
