CONSTRUCTION: Not surprisingly, it’s very similar in size, styling and control layout to the Mark II… but is actually 90 grams lighter in weight at 1.44 kilograms. External covers are magnesium alloy with weather sealing at all junctions and insulation to enable shooting in sub-zero temperatures. Diecast magnesium alloy chassis. New ‘Smart Controller’ is an optical touch-type control integrated into the AF-On buttons to enable faster AF point selection than the conventional joy-stick type control (which the Mark III retains). As on the Nikon D-SLR flagship, various buttons now have built-in backlighting.
