ALL ABOUT SNARES & CABLE RESTRAINTS PART II
In the previous issue of Trapper & Predator Caller, I discussed how I prefer to build my snares and the equipment that has proven to be tough enough for success. Now in part two, I’ll discuss the support systems that I use and more tips on where and how to set snares.
I use a snare support system of some type on all of my snare sets. The snare support is critical for the successful use of snares, and helps make consistent neck catches, rather than misses or body catches (depending on the animal).
Good neck catches reduce losses, and snare support systems reduce misses and knocked down snares. The snare support system that I use with the most success is a 3/8-inch piece of 18-inch rebar, with a 30-inch piece of #9 black iron annealed wire welded to the top of the stake.
