The following statement is quoted from the welcoming speech delivered by vice president and sales & marketing director Antonio Santella at Sanlorenzo’s superyacht division, who welcomed us at their awesome 50,000 square metre shipyard in La Spezia dedicated to building metal yachts from 40 to 80 metres: “ There is something new on every yacht of ours!” Antonio Santella is a manager all right, with loads of acquired experience in prestigious yards as well as having contributed to the Italian Olympic sailing team and for having taken part in the America’s Cup. He has been flanking Massimo Perotti since 2005 when Perotti acquired Sanlorenzo. His role: coordinate marketing department while developing new products for the new superyacht division. As official spokesman for the company Santella demonstrated how and thanks to innovation the group switched from 40 million euro invoiced in 2005 to the amazing figure of 380 million in 2018, in spite of the devastating financial crisis of the past few years. This year’s forecast is revealing a further 20 % growth. “Every yacht of ours - says Santella – has been in effect a new one thanks to innovations installed each time. It was this that allowed us to get a foot in the door of the superyacht world back in 2005 and to grow, by consistently re investing profits into innovation
