Located 35 miles east of Puerto Rico, USVI are part of the so-called Small Antilles arch, together with neighbouring British Virgin Islands. Saint Thomas, Water Island and Saint John are first to appear on the map; they are touched by the Atlantic Ocean on the North side and by the Caribbean sea on the South one. 40 miles. Saint Croix’s bulky profile is visible 40 miles South; the island is entirely surrounded by the warm Caribbean water. Sailing here is true pleasure. Short distances between islands, countless enchanting bays to stay, warm Trade winds for a tropical climate, it all feels like heaven.
A hint of History
Colonization began in Saint Thomas, and it was quite hard job. The island was a mountainous one, climate was not favourable, manpower scarcely available. This last problem, however, was quickly solved thanks to the despicable “Triangular route”, which basically allowed ships to sail fully loaded. They sailed from Denmark with all required goods to purchase African slaves in Guinea, who were next sold in Danish Anilles for a copious loot of sugar and
