Please, tell us more about you?

I was born and raised in Visalia, California, and I currently live in Tulare, California. I come from a family of five, including my two brothers and best friends, Mike and Miles, and my amazing parents, Richard and Theresa. I am an identical twin, and my younger brother, Miles, is only 361 days younger than me and my twin brother, Mike. My family means everything to me; they are my rock, and I wouldn’t be who or where I am, today, if it wasn’t for their unconditional and unwavering support, guidance, encouragement, and love.

Fitness, movement, nutrition, and mindset are all a permanent part of my lifestyle, and my lifestyle is my passion. I take tremendous pride in “walking my talk,” by living (what I call) a “V-Fit Lifestyle,” leading by example, and striving to properly guide others on how to truly and fully live their best lives.

After earning my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Kinesiology, with an exercise science focus, from California State University, Fresno, I attended the University of Southern California, which is where I earned my Ph.D. in Biokinesiology, with an applied clinical exercise physiology focus, in 2013. My doctoral work was conducted in the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, out of the Clinical Exercise Research Center. So, I am deeply thankful to bring over 11 years of high-level specialized education, in addition to over 16 years of applied, hands-on work experience with a diverse range of hundreds and hundreds of clients, to my professional endeavors and to the holistic fitness and health/wellness industry; this is primarily in the fields and areas of: exercise science and applied exercise physiology; exercise prescription and strength and conditioning for individuals across the lifespan; athletic performance/sport-specific training; bodybuilding and physique development training; nutrition for performance and health and wellness; and, healthy aging.

In addition to being recognized as an expert in my field of work and study, I am an Elite-Level Performance and Nutrition Specialist, Fitness and Wellness Influencer, Internationally Published Fitness Model and Writer (and, now, Men’s Fitness Cover Model!), and a Nationally-Qualified Men’s Physique Competitor. Founded upon an unconditional sense of gratitude and love for what I do and pursue, I bring true passion, heart, and positive energy, every single day, to my career, physically active lifestyle, all of my endeavors, and each and every person I come into contact with; I am wholeheartedly dedicated to helping as many people as I possibly can to get and stay fit for a lifetime and to progressively transform on many different levels, including physically and mentally.

I was 29 years old when I finished my doctoral work and, officially, became “Dr. Matt.” So, as an entrepreneur, I feel like I am just getting started and really beginning to take flight in our industry; my mindset is always: the best is yet to come! As an athlete and bodybuilder, I am very thankful for the sport of bodybuilding, because it gives me another opportunity to unleash the true competitor within me: to visualize the attainment of my goals, plan my approach to competition preparation, strategically apply my knowledge, and work relentlessly hard to earn optimized results and bring my best package to the stage,
