Unlike its major rivals Adidas, Nike and Reebok, Under Armour is still a surprisingly young brand but one that has grown exponentially in a very short time. Plank, a Roman Catholic, grew up in Kensington, Maryland, a suburb of Washington D.C., he was the youngest of five brothers born to William and Jayne Plank. His father was a prominent Maryland land developer and his mother was a former mayor of Kensington, who went on to direct the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs at the United States Department of State under President Ronald Reagan.
