LEADERSHIP BASED ON TRUST AND EMPOWERMENT

It seems unlikely there would be many chief executives who employ more than 400 people, have projects worth more than $100 million on the boil and have been lauded as ‘visionary’ with regard to staff culture, who would describe their leadership style as “very laid back”.

But that is what Sudesh Jhunjhnuwala, the founder and CEO of Hind Management and Sudima Hotels, replies when asked what type of leader he is.

He told Management he likes to have good people working for him “and I empower them fully. They have my full trust and I never look over their shoulders.”

He tells his leadership team that this is your job, you have your budgets and goals to be met.

“And as long as they are doing that and following the culture, then I am not bothered about how they get the job
