* THE IDEA Over a decade ago, James was working for his dad’s company that sold pizza ovens, and I was a practising psychologist. He tried to make sales at markets by showing buyers oven prototypes, but business was slow. We love cooking together, especially making items like pizza dough from scratch. James often made our pizza creations at markets to demonstrate how the ovens worked, giving slices to onlookers at no charge. I soon noticed how people were raving more about the pizzas than the ovens. So, in mid-2012, I suggested we sell the pizzas instead. I felt we would fill a gap in the market and, within two months, what started as a marketing strategy to boost business became our new food venture. By November 2013, Earthfire Pizza
