WOODCOCK IN IRELAND

I have been a reader and fan of Shooting Times for 40 years and my father before was a reader for longer. I was surprised and disappointed to see your magazine promoting woodcock shooting in the Republic of Ireland (Evaded by the canny locals, 13 November).

Shooting Times usually advocates curtailing the woodcock season and encouraging restraint and good sportsmanship when it comes to woodcock shooting and rightly so. However, this article was the total opposite of what the GWCT and most
