Since we’ve left Lubumbashi it’s been tough going, with bridges washed away and roads broken. That is why we took a 150km detour through a cattle ranch. Then it started to rain, big fat heavy raindrops pelting against the windscreens.
Now back on the national road, we find it in a whole different state of chaos – mud craters, trenches, erosion cavities and water. Lots of it. Drive too fast or too slow and you’re in trouble.
