With more than 80 000 hardearned kilometres already on the clock, this road, the final leg of our east to west crossing of Africa (from the mouth of the Zambezi in Mozambique to the mouth of the Congo River) will certainly put our much-travelled Discoverys to the ultimate test.
We’ve survived the notorious Kasumbalesa Border Post between Zambia and the DRC and it’s dark by the time we enter the narrow crowded streets of Lubumbashi where people shout “South Africa! South Africa! South Africa!” and bash the sides of the Land Rover. We feel uneasy.
