‘Experienced amateurs’ head to Angola
After years of planning and deliberation, cancellations and re-planning, the moment had arrived… the Swanepoels and their friends and family would be getting Angola stamps in their passports. Christoff tells us all about it…
“We left Pretoria early on a Friday and hoped to get to Ruacana within five days from where we would cross the border into Angola.
My wife Suzette and I went in our Toyota Hilux and our youngest daughter, Jurika, and her fiancé, Jacques Steenkamp, followed in his Ford Ranger. It wasn’t long before we arrived at the Martinsdrift border post. Later, when we were due in Namibia’s Zambezi region (formerly Caprivi), our friends the Naudés from Northcliff in Johannesburg would be joining us. Ernst and Adeline and their student children, Suné and Jaco, travelled in a Nissan Navara.
