So it was business as usual for the monarch, her daughter the Princess Royal and daughter-in-law the Duchess of Cornwall last week. And while the Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex spent half-term with their children, their own projects were still very much in the spotlight.
After ending her winter break at her Sandringham estate in Norfolk the week before, the Queen was back in London, with cheering well-wishers lining the streets as she arrived in Bloomsbury to open a new hospital.
