    How long have you been growing your own fruit and veg?

    I don’t remember a time when I haven’t grown fruit and veg. I helped out my parents and grandparents, but struck out on my own when I was eight years old. I started first by growing lettuce in the garden and selling them for 5p each at the front gate. When I was 10 I made a greenhouse from old pallets and builder’s polythene. I got my first proper greenhouse, a brand new aluminium 6 by 8ft, when I was 13 with the compensation money from being shot (that’s a story for another day!) – I still have it on my plot today.
