Hattie's Patch

A simply pieced, but quite effective quilt depending on the colours and placement of your fabrics. Maree purchased this vintage 1930s quilt at Quilt Festival in Houston in 2016. The blocks are pieced with alternate prints and plains and there is a white hexagon.

The pieced blocks are made up of six kites — three each of two different fabrics, but you could make yours all scrappy.

All the templates are on the Pattern Sheet, including a half hexagon that you can use on the top and bottom edge of the quilt to make straight edges. Doesn’t the original side edge, following the shape of the hexies, look great?

As an alternative, Maree has pieced her step samples in reproduction fabrics, all prints, to show you another possibility. It would be equally stunning as a modern quilt in all The choice is yours.
