As those of you who've read my memoir know -- it's called "From the Left" and still available on Amazon! -- I grew up in a segregated town in northern Delaware. I went to a whites-only school, worshipped in a whites-only church, and joined a whites-only Boy Scout troop. And one of the phrases I often heard about African Americans was: "Why don't those people go back where they came from?"
Since then, things have changed a lot.
