About this audiobook
Political activist and social media star Candace Owens addresses the many ways that Democrat Party policies hurt, rather than help, the African American community, and why she and many others are turning right.
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned.
She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American Dream. Instead, Owens offers up a different ideology by issuing a challenge: It’s time for a major black exodus. From dependency, from victimhood, from miseducation—and the Democrat Party, which perpetuates all three.
Owens explains that government assistance is a double-edged sword, that the Left dismisses the faith so important to the black community, that Democrat permissiveness toward abortion disproportionately affects black babies, that the #MeToo movement hurts black men, and much more. Weaving in her personal story, which ushered her from a roach-infested low-income apartment to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she demonstrates how she overcame her setbacks and challenges despite the cultural expectation that she should embrace a victim mentality.
Well-researched and intelligently argued, Blackout lays bare the myth that all black people should vote Democrat—and shows why turning to the right will leave them happier, more successful, and more self-sufficient.

This is a great book. Candace Owens gets a lot of criticism for her views by the mainstream media but I think that that criticism is largely from people who don’t know what she preaches and just know that they’re supposed to hate her. This book’s thesis is simple: people shouldn’t feel like they’re victims, instead, Americans need to take their futures into their own hands and become victors, because the only person that can make you succeed is you, you have control over yourself and there’s no point in blaming someone else. I love this book and it took me less than a week to finish. It is enrapturing from page one. I think that this book holds an important message, one that applies equally to black America and to any American no matter their creed or color.5 people found this helpful

I don't have enough words in my vocabulary to express how much I L♡VED this book. Candace has a gift, and thankfully, the voice to share her experience with AMERICANS. Not just black-Americans, or white-Americans, but with ALL AMERICANS! I cannot sing the praises of "Blackout" loud enough. That said, I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE, regardless of skin color or political affiliation, seriously. ENJOY! ~Kristen Snow•White2 people found this helpful

This book is the new history book for my homeschooled children. Thank you Candace for your candor and courage. This book has renewed my mind as we are instructed to do in Romans 12:2 "...and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. May the One true and living God continue to bless the work of your hands. Powerful Book!2 people found this helpful

Candle Owens presents a reasoned and sane explanation of what is wrong with America today and what to do to fix it. The values she espouses - taking responsibility for your actions, taking advantage of the enormous opportunities America uniquely offers you to to succeed by dint of self-belief and hard work - are not just ones to which black people might aspire, but are universal, making Ms Owens book an enlightening and inspiring read, even if you do not happen to be black.2 people found this helpful
