NPR's Ari Shapiro speaks with Eric Marcus of Making Gay History about his collection of oral histories on the Stonewall riots, which happened 50 years ago this week.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City, activists rode their motorcycles during the city's gay pride parade. The events that took place in June 1969 have been described as the birth of the gay rights movement, but that's only partially true.
