GRAIN EVENT

If I could eat only grains, fruit and vegetables for the rest of my life, I would. They offer so much more to explore than meat does. When I’m asked to design a menu for an event, for example, I’ll usually come up with about ten dishes I think are fantastic until someone says to me ‘Hey, where’s the meat?’!

My aunt Bongi is one of my biggest cooking inspirations because when I was growing up, she loved vegetables in a way that you don’t often see in our community. She was always looking for different ways to cook them – like her easy party gem squash in the May 2019 issue of TASTE – and she introduced us to vegetables we wouldn’t otherwise have tried.
