On a Sunday afternoon in June 2016, a vehicle caught up to Salvador Suarez on West 46th Street. He ran, but didn't get far. One of the occupants unloaded a high-powered rifle at Suarez, killing him. Police found dozens of shell casings on the street.
A military-style weapon on the streets of Chicago? Unusual, police said at the time.
