About this series

After decades, the Mexican civil war is all but over, but a review of captured documents reveals a secret-the now-deceased guerrilla leader of La Fuerza was, for over a decade, stealing from his own revolution. Billions of dollars are missing-enough to sustain the war effort, if discovered, or maybe even topple the struggling Mexican government. Private contractor Seamus O'Malley, leading an elite team, is tasked with locating and retrieving the cash.

The Mexican Attorney General thinks the money is hidden somewhere near Xicotepec, a remote mountainous town that has lately been dealing with mysterious animal attacks. The locals think it might be jaguars. The truth is far more terrifying.

Meanwhile, an international team of scientists returns to Pangaea, the abandoned dinosaur park. They've discovered a secret that has been hidden there for twenty years, something that could revolutionize medicine and is sure to earn someone a Nobel Prize once they find it . . . provided nothing unexpected happens.

But neither group will be able to escape the bloody echoes of Pangaea, where nothing ever goes as planned . . .

The Mexican civil war had been grinding on for so long that the United States resorted to using private contractors-mercenaries-to prop up the failing Mexican Army. One of the many things the Mexican Army failed to protect was Pangaea, the famed animal park in remote northeast Mexico, a symbol of rampant capitalism. All the creatures inside were killed at the time. At least, that's what was reported. For his estranged son Michael's high school graduation, hotel mogul Roger Rudd splurged on a rare and expensive hunting trip in Mexico, hoping it would bring them closer. To get there, they hitched a ride down on one of the contractors' helicopters, picking up Tina Echevarria, a beautiful and feisty Mexican graduate student, along the way. But when the helicopter crashes in the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains, its combat-seasoned contractor crew, led by Irishman Seamus O'Malley, will have to lead the disparate group on a cross-country scramble, trying not only to evade guerilla fighters, but also the prolific and savage offspring of the artificially created animals once filling Pangaea. Animals thought to be eradicated a generation before, when Pangaea's walls were breached. Animals called theropods by the park officials . . . but known to the rest of world as dinosaurs.

After decades of civil war, La Fuerza is on the run in Mexico, the communist guerrilla army seemingly on its last legs. Sergeant Seamus O'Malley was a big reason for their current ill-fortune, and the veteran private contractor now has a huge price on his head. He's given an easy executive protection job in remote Cancún, but he isn't happy about his new "babysitting" assignment. The war rages on, sparking the worst wildfires the country has ever seen. The descendants of the genetically engineered animals once filling Pangaea, the former dinosaur park, are forced by the fires to flee throughout Mexico, causing chaos. In the midst of this, La Fuerza struggles for a victory, for its very existence, and its brutal soldiers are willing to do whatever it takes to get a win. A mercenary with a bounty on his head and the billionaire's daughter he protects seem like easy targets. Past the oblivious tourists and bright lights, Cancún is an island of civilization surrounded by jungle and death. It's holding its breath, waiting for the worst to happen. There's trouble in paradise, and Seamus O'Malley couldn't be happier.
