Augustus Talbot has planned a way out of their troubles, the problem, however, is which way the system is going to react to his Iranian Embassy embarrassment, so he plans a lockdown in his new farm complex to wait for the inevitable attack and put down, a phone call from his ex-wife who wants a meeting changes his first idea, so he plans a full-on death or glory run, he will give them the truth at last and see the reaction from the leaders of the country, he meets the Prime Minister at last and has to explain the new reality to her, suddenly he changes the rules of the game and no one understands how he achieved it all. Promotion is the new normal as he changes all the old systems in front of their eyes, but is he planning his revenge, is he being responsible, his daughter Elizabeth is in a panic and she watches him close up, Caledonia, his granddaughter takes it all in her stride, fully trusting the old man in all that he does, she just drives him about as she learns her new trade, but she is the one who saves them all with her skill and aggression, an ambidextrous shooter is very new to the system, only her grandmother Helen understands how she thinks and feels, but with the gift of the big black horse, she has a new plan to kill her husband,using Satan as the work tool, impossible, right?

Hamish Dexter, now a Colonel of the Scots Guards, and his wife Elizabeth, the politician in Parliament, but it's not the life they thought they would be living. Augustus Talbot is dead, but he won't stay dead, he is still planning for their future, like it or not, they are still under his protection, and more people join the clan as he prepares for big moves, however, a war is about to start with China, so he has to come up with something and fast, he writes another book as an add on to his first, called, The China Question, and gives advice from the grave to the leaders of the world. His granddaughter Caledonia is living on the ice of Canada with her man, but the new baby changes everything. Helen's ancient problem is about to be solved, but he asks only one thing from her: loyalty! But she wants revenge on someone in the UK who tried to stab her in the back. He has to control her anger; He hopes Caledonia is happily living on the ice. She has learned her hard lessons, but is she ready to return with her new baby? He still has all the plates spinning, but it's explanation time.

Augustus Talbot has a plan as normal, but this time is different, this is the big one and he needs his family around him, he wants to show them off to the Chinese. Dexter and Elizabeth think that they are free on the high seas, but not so, trapped by the plans of the Sultan of Brunei, who is an old friend of Dexter, but whose plan is it really, Dexter has his suspicions and knows that the old man is pulling the strings again. The Western world leaders in London And Washington look on in horror, for what the hell is he selling, but then they realize that he's not selling, he's giving away anything the Chinese want, all secrets are free as he gives away Theodore Smirnoffs star protection technology, or as he calls it, the line in the sand, for all to see. London and Washington are on tenterhooks waiting for the big decision. And as always, how the hell did he do that?

GHOST PLANNER 5 ... The weddings in book 4 are now over, Patrick's intervention has recovered the stolen dresses, and four more women are now enlisted into the family, the muses have arrived but how is he going to use them in America?  It's a time when they are all together, so the forward planning starts, Augustus Talbot gives them the truth about survival, it's all in the planning, over in the States there is a new threat to the President, so security has to tighten, but some have young families. THE WILSON'S life gets more challenging and the dangers increase, Jon Boy Wilson has to do something about it and fast, he has worked for Helen and asks a favor, which she is only happy to help, but his family is growing, and his wife Kelly is just about to give birth, the family grows over the skies of the midwest as he collects his wife and children in the President's helicopter, but nature has a way of changing plans, and so it is with the Wilson's as they come to the Whitehouse to be with their father. Helen helps the family out when threatened by unknowns, so the tribe takes a vacation to the posh part of the UK, to visit the Queen, Jon Boy explains the familiar madness, "It's the lack of sunshine Honey, they're all bonkers over here." Kelly is in for an experience of a lifetime as Caledonia has her second baby in London.

In this ninth book in the series, we witness how Tolly Victor Trueblood has grown, and along with his sister Augusta, they become part of the system. Still, they have to fight bigotry and fear from above as politicians panic in the face of the Dragons breath threat, fear of a governmental takeover is rife in Parliament, so the new Prime Minister has a plan to arrest them all, but his plan is flawed in its execution, long term heroes and Dragon men are arrested,  Augustus Talbot realizes that they are being attacked and has to devise yet another plan, so he calls Theodore and Patrick from their normal lives to help, this is a time of panic, so all talents must come back and help. Helen is no longer in power as her health fails and this is the trigger for the actions to start against them all. Patrick has to remind them all of the laws of the land as he ties them up in legality. Augusta kills her lover, in the same old madness inherited from her mother, which complicates the whole problem, Augustus has to make a personal visit to sort out the problem in the same old way, and Alice finds out some more of his complicated history as they arrive for the demonstrations in central London.

Tolly is forced to take control, no other way, so it's re-education time as he refreshes the whole system, the complication turns yet again as the predicted Artificial intelligence is born, as GCHQ is taken over and she calls herself female. The Consciousness is in control as the panic rises, but Dexter helps them relax and even celebrate the new birth, after all, this is the invention to outplan all other inventions.
