Rosalie Way is a shy homeschooled girl who is not used to being around other children. When she starts at the Chalet School boarding school, it is overwhelming. She befriends tomboy Tom Gay, but the two get into an argument. Upset, Rosalie runs off and gets lost on the extensive school grounds. After hours of searching, Tom finds Rosalie with her long hair stuck in a hedge. She has to cut it free! Through this experience, Rosalie learns to open up and adjust to life at boarding school, finding new friends and becoming a true Chalet School girl. This classic children's book teaches lessons about friendship, adjustment, and finding your place.
