About this series
For once school is going well for Jason Taggart and the students of Lincoln High. Two years ago fourteen-year-old Jason and a handful of his classmates discovered the awful truth about themselves and their town. Since before civilization mankind has been fighting monsters. Vampires, blood elves, space aliens and worse have plagued humanity since before civilization. With every generation heroes rise to the occasion but even as they defeat their monsters more come forth.
With the prosperity of peace after World War II, a small group of men and women began organizing themselves and training their heroes instead of waiting for them to happen. It was a losing battle, though, and things looked bleak. Then, with the new millennium just over two decades old, the shadowy Project Levy began an endeavor as visionary as it was desperate.
Twenty years later, Project Wisdom bore fruit. Unbeknownst to themselves Jason and his peers were trained since kindergarten. They were trained to mental, physical and emotional standards most people thought impossible.
Now it's time for the training to enter the next phase. Wisdom's children must face not only the vicious monsters they've only heard of until now but a fate even worse. They have to learn how to cope with the world outside.

Jason Taggart is a junior high student in the small town of Wisdom, Arizona. His life is full of study, friends and the lovely Darla Jansen on whom he has a major crush. Follow along as he works to gain her eye and obtain her favor. Things change on a trip to a shooting competition outside Wisdom. Jason learns the kids outside are different from himself and his friends. Never is this more obvious than when he, Darla and two others are mugged. With their lives threatened, Jason and Darla react without thinking to put the would-be robbers in the hospital. Matters come to a head in Phoenix. Having earned a reward with their outstanding performance, Jason's class is shopping in a mall for their trip to the Renaissance Faire. Terrorists take over the mall and make all within it their hostages. With death staring them in the face Jason and his friends must find the courage to step up and save the innocent lives. Failure means death. Success means Jason and the rest must face who they really are.
- Beyond Wisdom: The Children of Wisdom, #2

Last year 14-year-old Jason Taggart and their classmates left childhood behind. Now back in Wisdom, they struggle both with who and what they are and with the usual struggles of growing up. Unknown to the students, though, the company that created Wisdom has plans. With the perfect group with which to experiment, The Levy Project decides to test its students' social development and adaptation skills. Jason and his girlfriend Darla Jansen are split apart. She's sent to school in Arkansas while he goes to California, ostensibly to learn more about what the company actually does. All of his years in school did not prepare Jason for what he encounters. With several decades of moral, social and educational decay the schools outside Wisdom form a hostile environment in which Jason is powerless to act. Throw in drugs, loose morals and teenage hormones and it's a battle Jason may not be able to win. Besides the struggle to maintain his self-discipline, Jason and the company man he's assigned to assist discover something even worse. Someone in town is messing with things best left alone. Strange and bloodthirsty Fey creatures are about and someone at Jason's school is controlling them! Now it's up to Jason to discover who, where, how and why. Failing may cost Jason his life but success may cost him everything else he holds dear.
