The Moons of Epigaea Series

The world of Epigaea is old and filled with promise and peril. In their pride and arrogance the magic-wielders of old unleashed a storm so powerful that Epigaea herself rebelled and rose against them. The Great Storm decimated those who would conquer her then set loose creatures of shadow, twisted caricatures of those wanton spell-weavers, to devour any who dared survive.   Now, over two thousand years later, Mankind has again grown but this time in fear and humility. Those few left after Epigaea's rage now know respect for the world they inhabit. In the small village of Brookvale on the edge of lands yet untamed three children grow, through happy times and sad, in their journey to adulthood. Then... disaster! Monsters of legend ride the night's shadows in to capture and kill all who dare live in the lands they wish to hold. By wit, by will and by sheer luck these children, Thorne, Elaine and Sven, survive that awful night.   But is it luck alone? Now grown and making their way through a huge and heartless world these three discover an ancient evil bent on consuming the souls and magic of Epigaea herself. This unstoppable darkness must be stopped but they have only themselves to do it.

Dirk d'Argent is a man of many talents, swordsmanship chief among them. Upon reaching manhood he wandered the Seven Kingdoms of Epigaea plying his sabre in the service of merchants and generals eager to hire him. Then, over a nice meal in the city of Velport, he pauses for an evening of reflection.   Up until now Dirk drifted before the wind, traveling as he would wherever fortune nudged him. Though rich with experience, his life begins to feel empty. Purposeless. Following a troubling dream in which a misty lady begs his help, Dirk travels south to visit friends from his former life. There he finds the mysterious lady from his dream and pursues her into a new purpose for his days.   Now in the company of the fierce warrior-lady Lana and a foul-tempered Elf named Windshadow Dirk begins a journey of perilous discovery. His path leads him outside the Seven Kingdoms to a place he discovers both world-threatening danger and, more ominously, the unknown secrets of his own birth. The consequences of what he finds may well shake the very foundations of Epigaea herself.

The world of Epigaea sleeps uneasy, troubled by nightmares of disaster past. The rumblings of that catastrophe foreshadow the future as darkness looms, from whence she knows not. A few of the creatures dwelling on her surface perceive some measure of the shadow and struggle to forestall it.   Tigerthorn the Sly along with his friends Mysteria and Sven Hammerfist now live as slaves in the ancient, corrupt city of Quod Solamen. Forced to fight for the entertainment of the city's nobility, the three friends endeavor to gain their freedom by whatever means they can. Although the city itself is vile, the three find allies and succor. But will it be enough to free them before it's too late?   Meanwhile, the fancy-free Dirk d'Argent and his fierce companion Lana Makanani desperately seek the Great Library in Vell, burdened with great books and knowledge from the darkness of Obi Bujune. Between them they hold the key to a lock whose existence few on Epigaea know. Behind it lays salvation or doom, with only an ancient and incomprehensible prophecy separating the two.

The end has come! The world of Epigaea, once ravaged by the Great Storm that nearly destroyed her, now faces one even stronger. A festering, pustulent evil from a past remembered only by the Elves has returned with an appetite only sharpened by the centuries of its delay. Goblins, hobgoblins, ogres, trolls and worse swarm from the Wild Lands into the Seven Kingdoms of Man bringing death and destruction in their wake. Even more chilling, the spirits of the dead have returned to the world of the living.   All is not lost, though. Tigerthorn the Sly, Dirk d'Argent and their friends have the means to avert annihilation. They must needs only discover where it will happen, where it will begin and how to prevent it. Thus begins the desperate quest that scatters them throughout the Seven Kingdoms and beyond. As they walk its paths they must confront old friends and enemies both in their search for knowledge.   Will such knowledge be enough? Epigaea's magic has diminished to nothing against that she granted before the Great Storm and it will not be enough to save her now. The key to her future lies in her past and saving life requires death. Can the unlikely band of heroes make the necessary sacrifice?
