About this series
While Romarny goes west to save Captain Zak, Rod and a scratch-team of eccentric scientists fly east in a purloined pirate ship powered by Tezlah technology and an all-women crew to face a new kind of terror: the 500-year 'Midgeon Swarm'.
Who are these invaders? What do they want? Can Rod save Varste, or is everyone's trust in him misplaced?
There's no turning back. They must bravely fly Into the Zone of Madness!
Meanwhile in Britain, Romarny's royal plea gets royally screwed. Alone on the streets of London, our forlorn former-Firetail is desperate for a plan; any plan, as Zak's trial approaches its terrifying conclusion. Meanwhile, Queen Victoria III is making plans of her own.
Has our feisty Firetail finally met her match in a game she must not lose!?
Titles in the series (6)
- Across the Stonewind Sky: Stonewind Sky, #1
1
Jilted at the altar and determinedly British about it, Rod Hoverrim embarks upon the adventure of a lifetime – following his nation's bravest (and oft-times stupidest) men 'Into the Storm's Domain'. First hijacked, then attacked by sky-pirates (twice!) he is soon trapped by evil pirate queen "The Black Bitch". As he fights for the lives of her prisoners, their rancid airship crashes upon the Skyland of Vicaria – lair of idiot scientist Victor Vicario: well known for injecting his visitors with his latest (deadly) concoctions. Knowing he's in desperate straits, Rod makes several hasty friendships ... and soon discovers this manic micro-world hides a veritable ship-ton of mysteries!
- Into the Heart of Varste: Stonewind Sky, #2
2
Now recovered from his first frightful adventure, and regarded as a hero, Rodney wins a lucrative new commission: to start an overnight mail service between Vicaria and Havenscliff (the 'Heart of Varste') using his tiny British-powered airship. But it's not long before things go wrong, of course, and it's all to do with That Damned Firetail! Although he survives the first day, his sojourn in fabulous Haven Towers is beset with tension and danger. Should he persevere, or should he get the hell out of there before Murderous Major Mennase returns from the dead? To compound his crisis he goes and falls in love with Karla Cluely: girl-genius in her own right and daughter of the local Mad Scientist Hubert Von Heulenstein, who has his own special way of wrecking Rod's plans. Meanwhile, all sorts of secret skullduggery transpires in the shadows …
- Hoverrim the Hunted: Stonewind Sky, #3
3
After the catastrophic conclusion to "The Heart of Varste" Rod finds himself in the worst possible trouble: trapped between two women! The physically frail Firetail and his frigidly furious fiancée (oh, and they're in a crashed airship; with king Attar howling for his head … and other stuff.) Forced to flee further, Rod is advised to go into hiding. Fortunately the Firetail has friends in low places and Rod is soon an entirely new man: 'Mr Lorange'. Not that a disguise can keep him out of trouble for long. Surprise Twists! Madhouse Capers! A Genius Dwarf! And following like a bloodhound comes the very sinister 'Mr Henche'. But does Henche actually have a different agenda, and is Rod actually part of the evil scheme? And who is the doe-eyed Miss Alabaste? Is she as innocent as she seems?
- Into the Lair of Le-Roosh: Stonewind Sky, #4
4
Just as life seems to settle for our straight-laced & thoroughly-British hero, he is dragged into a perilous rescue mission to the secretive skyland of Jazzenburg - lair of infamous sky-pirate Joozen Le-Roosh. But the Fates had made worse plans. Thrown down by a storm, they encounter prehistoric horrors and a ship-ton of pirates lead by Romarny's evil cousin Ricardo. To Rodney's dismay, the pirates join their mission! After more monsters and death-upon-the-skies, they finally reach Jazzenburg, but all is not what it seems. A Far Greater Evil awaits!
- Voyage of the Silver Dawn: Stonewind Sky, #5
5
How could a bar-fight change the lives of everyone aboard the Silver Dawn? Or for that matter: how could the frail (and mysterious) Miss Malikarv do the same? But toss in Rocket Hampster and his sex-crazed lover, a stowaway and a peg-legged man and you soon get Chaos! A leisurely cruise turns into a nightmare as Captain Zak's fabulous airship runs foul of saboteurs, storms, steam-pirates, pterodactyls and mad scientists. Then, when all seems settled, who should turn up but an 'aquainance' from Book One with evil plans of her own; plans that could wreak havoc on all of Varste!
- Into the Queen's Domain: Stonewind Sky, #6
