Description
We will never solve the budget crisis, the workplace problems, and cultural issues without winding down the welfare state. But given how entrenched it is, we need innovative ideas for how to wean people off programs without further growing government. Florida first lady Casey DeSantis shares her success story overseeing the “Hope Florida” program. Rather than mindlessly handing out welfare checks without any follow-up, Hope Florida retooled some of the state welfare agencies into working with private charities in each county to steer people toward private solutions and getting back on their feet in the long term. They have helped over 100,000 people, have reduced welfare for 27,500 people, and have saved hundreds of millions of dollars, all by using existing resources. This is the only realistic blueprint for breaking the cycle of dependency that is bankrupting our country on behalf of insidious politicians who want to keep people down and dependent.

Daniel and Joe argue it is the best hope, and possibly best strategy for conservatives to regain a foothold in the political arena. It isn't an easy or quick solution, but it would have lasting and important effects on the political landscape for years to come. by Conservative Review with Daniel Horowitz
