Frozen just might give you the warm fuzzies (2013): This movie is so refreshing. A Disney movie that is outside the normal storyline. A royal family, two (2) young princesses (one with special powers), and the story that unfolds. There is a tragedy early on and a heartache that unfolds. Separation, loneliness... all the emotions are so well conveyed... As the story progresses, we see each of the princesses growing into themselves and we begin to see the traditional Disney fairytale ending. A handsome prince, a beautiful princess, and does it end there? No, some twists and turns later we see an ending that takesﾠ us by surprise, it takes the two sisters coming together to save one another. Don't get me wrong, there is love in the air but it may not be what we expect. God's Not Dead 2 (2016): God's Not Dead challenged you to defend your faith. This goes a step further and challenges how strong really is and how firm of a stance you'll take to defend it. That being said, this isn't a strictly theological movie and should be shared far and wide. Maybe this podcast might help. Original Review: The separation of church and state seems as if it should be absolute. The reality to the situation is that the line is in fact blurred in places. We are allowed to accept quotes from historians as factual history but when it comes to quotes from any theological sources, there is always question as to the validity of them based purely off of their views. Why are non-theological sources seen as more credible than theological ones... This story delves into that and more. Here we see a teacher that did nothing more than answer a student's question. Priceless (2016): A story about human trafficking that puts faces to the stories. We are given a glimpse into what really happens and the horrors associated with it. Original Review: Human trafficking is a problem that is often overlooked. It isn't something that just happens in other countries, sometimes it happens right in front of us. The question then becomes: What can be done about it? When one young man decides to take a job to transport some cargo across the country for a large sum of money... He doesn't ask a lot of questions. After a close call, he ends up learning exactly what it is that he's hauling. After that, his life will never be the same. Upon arriving at the destination, the cargo is delivered and the money is exchanged but that is far from the end of the story. There is something that he just cannot let go of. God's Not Dead (2014): A professor challenges all of his students to question their resolution of faith. It dares to do the unthinkable and in doing so challenges many stereotypes. Original Review: I see both sides of the argument in "God's not dead". I think that Josh (Shane Harper) presented his facts in an open and clear way. Though in a class of approximately 80 students (given by him in the movie)... It is difficult to believe that he was the lone one who refused to write "God's not dead" and sign the paper. The other storylines in the movie, I felt were a distraction. The boy from PRC (Peoples Republic of China) and the Muslim girl didn't give enough of their stories to understand. What happened to the professor was a very unsatisfactory ending, it happened so abruptly that we weren't able to hear in his own words what he was going to share with the woman he loved. Mission Impossible (1996): As we are introduced to Ethan Hunt and to his team with the IMF. We are taken along on an adventure that will definitely get the adrenaline flowing. Original Review: A mole has infiltrated the IMF, the future is now at stake. How deep did the infiltration go? The only way to find out is to answer an impossible question. Ethan and his team are trying to do just that. When they run into some difficulties, some truths present themselves. These truths will change everything. The team is not what it once was, and what lies ahead could never be expected. All in pursuit of a list sounds simple, doesn't it... It's never that easy. This could have had so much promise, from the trailers, this had the makings of something great. It fell far short of that mark. Mission Impossible II (2000): Original Review: A genetically modified disease is on the verge of being released and only one man can stop it. This agent is one that we've met before and this could be his last. The disease has a short life, at least to those that are infected. Stopping it in its tracks is imperative. Ethan is still with the IMF and though his team has changed, his passion hasn't. When it becomes obvious that stopping the transmission of this disease will cost him someone close to him, the game changes. He must decide between heart or humanity. Which do you think he'll choose? This second installment in the M:I series had nowhere to go but up. Though it's not a home run by any means, it most definitely exceeded the first. The story was much further developed, the characters finally found their footing and the idea promised was portrayed successfully. Saying all of that, you may expect a higher score. The Equalizer (2014): Denzel Washington as you've never seen him before... Be prepared for some surprises. Original Review: Our past, we do the best to hide from it but it always catches up with us. We do our best to start over but no matter what we do, the past continually haunts us. That's what Robert is trying to do, start over. New name, new life, no history... Or so he thought. A situation presents itself that he cannot overlook and he has to help. In doing so he crosses some lines that he cannot come back from. He is in a kill or be killed situation which is never as simple as it sounds. His new friend aspires for more but is caught up in the web that the Russian mafia has spun. The deeper he digs, the more he loses in this fight that might not end in victory. That's a chance he's willing to take. In this incessant struggle for himself vs. what's right and wrong there will be a victor... Who or what will prevail? As a story, this kept me engaged throughout. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (1985): A simple man, on screen at least. Paul was a complicated actor and an undeniable deviant. That didn't stop him from entertaining millions over the years. Love him or hate him, one thing stands out... he was a goofball. Original Review: This is a simple story about a bicycle and the man that loves it like no other. An eccentric man who works as a cook at a local diner by day and lives in a home full of eccentricities. This bike is one of those unusual items. When it turns up missing, Pee-Wee has one suspect in mind. When that doesn't pan out, he gets a lead that will take him on the adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, he'll make many new friends and have some unusual and even supernatural encounters. Each one adding something a little extra to the story. Pee-Wee refuses to give up the search though, no matter what. Just when all hope seems lost, he ends up locating his missing bicycle in the most unlikely of places.
