In this special STS series, Surviving My Biggest Case, Hostage Negotiator Jim Fuda takes us on the journey of what it takes to save hostages under extreme pressure. #BestGuest: Jim Fuda spent 33 years as a law enforcement professional where he worked a variety of assignments including Special Operations, where his skillset included Hostage Negotiations Team Leader, Major Event Planner, Dignitary Protection Coordinator, Marine Unit Commander, and Physical Security Specialist. Jim was a Department of Justice contractor, teaching in Pakistan, Bosnia, and Indonesia. Jim also teaches throughout the United States with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, instructing First Responder and Anti-Terrorist Operations. Jim’s skill and experience were utilized as a key organizer for the 1990 Goodwill Games, the 1996 APEC, and the 1999 WTO Conference to name just a few. He was also responsible for policy and procedure development for “Y2K”, Critical Incident Response Operations, Marine Unit Operations, and Courthouse Security Operations. Jim responded to more than 300 Hostage/Barricade situations and is responsible for saving numerous lives. Jim is now the Director of LE Services for Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound and is working on a Transnational Initiative, which is a 4-country cooperative alliance to combat Human Trafficking, Terrorism, Illicit Trade, Narcotics Trafficking, Illegal Arms Dealing, Cyber Crime and Corruption. The project involves utilizing an anonymous APP which allows citizens to report crime anonymously.
