Description

Bryan De La Cruz smashed a go ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning, lifting the Marlins to a 3-2 win in game one. In game two, Roddery Munoz looked real good in his big-league debut, until the 6th inning, when the Cubs knocked him out of the game and scored four times to take the lead for good. The game-winning homer was the 5th of the season and second in two days for De La Cruz, the Marlins' red-hot left fielder, who has raised his average 30 points in the last week. Tanner Scott pitched his way out of a jam in the bottom half to pick up his 3rd save. Scott and Calvin Faucher each went two scoreless innings to back up starter Jesus Lazardo, who allowed two runs in six innings. Nico Hoerner had two hits and Patrick Wisdom had two RBI's for the Cubs, who wasted some solid pitching from Javier Assad and three relievers. In game two, Josh Bell had two hits, including a home run, and scored two runs for Miami. Cody Bellinger and Andrew Canario each homered for the Cubs, and Michael Busch scored two runs. The Marlins still have not won back-to-back games this season. Their record is are 5-17. 3-6 on the road. The two teams finish up their four-game series tomorrow, with Edward Cabrera taking the mound for the Marlins against the Cubs' Kyle Hendricks.
