Emmanuel Rivera's pinch-hit single knocked in Nick Fortes with the winning run, as the Miami Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-6 in ten innings, snapping a five-game losing streak against the Dodgers and Phillies, the teams with the two best records in the National League. Each team blew a three-run lead, with the Phillies jumping out early on Nick Castellanos' three-run home run in the first inning off Marlins starter Braxton Garrett, making his first start of the season. Garrett would go 5 1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs. The Marlins scratched and clawed at Phillies' ace Zack Wheeler until Josh Bell cranked a three-run shot of his own in the third inning gave them a 4-3 lead.
