Description

This week on TRP, Tom and I are joined by Steph and Paul O’Sullivan of the Irish Emo Rock band Greywind. Greywind burst on to the UK scene in 2017 when their debut album ‘Afterthoughts’ began turning heads across the rock world, capturing serious praise from BBC Radio Royalty and festival critics alike. While it seemed for a moment that they were poised to be on the fast track to living out most bands dream-scenario, the whirlwind of events leading up to this the recording of this LP - and the collapse of their team shortly thereafter - was anything but joyful. You’ll hear how the formation of their band resulted from the loss of a dear family member. The siblings unpack their journey from a humble demo of the first song they’d ever written together to recording a full-length album with producer Jason Perry at the legendary Sonic Ranch in El Paso, TX. And finally, they explain how they not only survived the gauntlet of being dropped by their labels, managers, agents - but how they were able to emerge from the pandemic with their best songs to date and more fans than ever before.Listen to Greywind on SpotifyGreywind's Official Website15:10 - Tracking the song 'Afterthoughts' in a single day!26:55 - Getting different opinions from different managers36:55 - Detaching from the studio after a day in the studio43:25 - Self doubting when in a big studio53:40 - Supporting Thrice in London then playing Reading and Leeds1:06:15 - Promoting the record... then go viralIf you enjoyed this episode, please consider joining our supportors club with a small donation HEREHave a question?
