Description

“I think you realize how much you need to have people that you love. It’s not as much about them loving you- it’s about you needing to love people.” -Chadwick Boseman It’s finally time to toast to 2020… or at least review it and toast to the new year coming in! I am always excited to invite my good friend, Ashley Knight, back to the T&T mic, especially for our annual “Year In Review Cast”! There was a lot to cover this year, as you know. We dive right in on Jan 1 with our first alerts of what is now COVID-19, followed by repeated events of racial injustice, the run to the 2020 Presidential Election, the loss of many great, varsity humans this year including Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Chadwick Boseman, and so much more. It was very interesting to see the timeline of events on paper, proving that the year really did start off tough and it only got more intense as we went on. We are truly in unprecedented times, scrambling to be better, do better, and evolve as best we can- as fast as we can. Ashley and I discuss the timeline of events one by one, noting the overarching themes of the pandemic(s)- the virus AND systemic racism as a whole. I always aim to keep the podcast and conversation as positive as possible, but more importantly real. This conversation drips with the unfortunate realities of 2020 and while not-so-uplifting, it’s critical we acknowledge the truth in what is and isn’t going on so we can do better in the future. Ashely and I do find some silver lining in the mix and we end on a gracious note… after all, it’s about resilience. Bring on 2021!!! Timeline of event by The NYDailyNews.com and The NY Post Highlights: Breakdown, breakdown, let’s hope we break through. Goodbye 2020. Systemic racism, COVID-19, The Presidential Election. Trump, Biden, voting. Racial and social justice. The loss of many great people this year. Sexism, business and the reoccurring theme of powerful men taking full advantage. #BlackLivesMatter . Light at the end of the tunnel. TEQUILA.   Ashley Knight: Ashley Simone Knight is an Esthetician, Model, and Colorado native. She started modeling when she was 20 and gained her experience in the growing Colorado market. She has been an Esthetician for the past 6 years and has recently evolved from working at various spas and salons to starting her own business. It’s all better together. Reality is nothing more than applied meaning, so let’s break though society’s antiquated implied rules and expectations and break into authentic self-expression to see what’s possible for personal, professional, and worldly positive change. Join me and my guests as we share our purpose seeking journeys chasing the pull from within of success, failure, and truth- with self-expression, mental/physical health, entrepreneurship, diversity, and community as the foundations of the mission… we are challenging status quo one gracefully disruptive conversation at a time.
