Description

The Blue Chip Ratio, invented by Bud Elliot of 247 Sports, is a formula that measures the talent level required on a team's roster to win a national championship. It is based on the number of blue chip recruits a team has brought in over the last four recruiting classes, with blue chip recruits defined as four or five-star recruits. The ratio is calculated by dividing the number of blue chip recruits by the total number of recruits in those classes. To meet the criteria for winning a national championship, a team needs to have at least 50% of their recruits in the last four classes be blue-chip recruits. While the Blue Chip Ratio is not perfect, it has consistently predicted national championship success, with every national champion in the championship game era meeting the Blue Chip Ratio criteria. Teams that come close to meeting the Blue Chip Ratio, such as TCU and Oregon in recent years, have fallen short in the championship game. The Blue Chip Ratio is a way for elite recruiters in college football to measure the talent and depth needed to win a national championship, emphasizing the importance of recruiting blue-chip prospects to a team's success. In today's Locked On Auburn, the Blue Chip Ratio is explained as a measurement of the talent a team needs on its roster to win a national championship. The ratio is based on the last four recruiting classes, with a team needing to have brought in 50% or more blue-chip recruits (four or five-star recruits) to be considered in the ratio. The episode notes that transfers can impact a team's ability to meet the ratio, but the transfer portal rarely helps a team in the Blue Chip Ratio and mostly only hurts them. This is because transfers are often brought in to fill immediate needs and may not contribute to the team's long-term success. Additionally, when a team takes in transfers, it can lead to attrition and a decrease in the number of blue-chip recruits on the roster. Therefore, while transfers can be helpful in the short-term, they may not be beneficial for a team's overall success in meeting the Blue Chip Ratio.Join the Discord: https://discord.gg/4BT7Y2uVHuRead Auburn Daily: http://auburndaily.com/Read Braves Today: http://bravestoday.com/Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BirddogsGo to birddogs.com/lockedoncollege and they’ll throw in a free custom birddogs Yeti-style tumbler with every order.FanDuelMake Every Moment More.
