Description

What are the odds of two tragic deaths occurring under the same roof, involving the same person, yet remaining unexplained? This question forms the basis of a recent episode of the "Hidden Killers" podcast, where host Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott discuss the mysterious circumstances surrounding firefighter Robert Daus.

Daus, who currently faces no charges and maintains his innocence, has experienced the deaths of two fiancées in his home over the last three years. The first, Grace Holland, a mother of four, died from a gunshot wound to the head, ruled a suicide despite using her non-dominant hand. Brueski highlights the unusual nature of this incident, noting, "It was deemed suicide... using a weapon. All points that usually don't happen all that frequently." The second fiancée, Sarah Sweeney, was also found dead in his home, with toxicology reports still pending.

Scott comments on the 911 call made by Daus, observing his unusually calm demeanor. "He was so matter of fact and calm... it was odd," she notes, adding to the mystery of the situation. The discussion also touches on the potential influence of Daus's profession on his reaction, with Brueski speculating whether his exposure to traumatic events might have numbed him to such horrors.

Further deepening the enigma, Brueski and Scott discuss a phone call from a detective investigating the case, indicating a possible leniency or familiarity between law enforcement and fire department personnel. Scott suggests that such camaraderie could inadvertently affect the investigation, stating, "It's human nature to cover for each other... and we have to always be aware of it."
